We took an easy day, doing laundry, swimming and sunning at the beach, and enjoying the air conditioning. Amalfi is pretty small so there isn’t a lot of exploring to do unless you want to hike up lots stairs and cliffs...and we didn’t. We enjoyed the pretty town and the nice AirBnB apartment, and then headed out to dinner at the highly recommended Taverna degli Apostoli. This restaurant is in the shadows, actually the front steps and basement, of the Cathedral of St. Andrew on the Piazza Duomo in the center of town. It boasts lots of local dishes, from fresh anchovy appetizers to lemon pesto. It was a great meal, and we followed it with desert at Pasticceria Andrea Pansa, probably our favorite place in Amalfi…along with desert, we ate breakfast there twice! If you go, get the lemon delize—it is delizious!
The Day's Stats
2.8 miles walked, 1 Mediterranean swim
The Day's Tips
Especially during tourist season, you’ll need a reservation at any decent restaurant. The good thing is, you don’t usually need a lot of lead time—at many places, you can stop by the restaurant when it opens in the early evening to get a reservation for later. But if you can, plan ahead and get the dinner reservation the day before by calling or stopping in.
The Day's Favorites
Cal: Probably lemon delize.
Val: Also lemon delize.
